Who is Ruturaj Gaikwad?
Ruturaj Gaikwad is a young Indian cricketer who was born on 31 January 1997 in Pune, Maharashtra. He is a right-handed batsman.

He made his first-class cricket debut for the Maharashtra cricket team in the Ranji Trophy edition of 2016-2017. If we talk about his performance in his first-ever first-class match, he managed to make 15 runs after facing 37 bowls in the first innings, and he wasn’t able to bat in the second innings.
If we talk about his T20 debut for Maharashtra’s state, he made it on 2 February 2017. In this match too, his performance wasn’t that great, and he managed to score just nine runs as an opener.
While if we talk about List A debut, he made it against Himachal Pradesh at Cuttack in 2017 as a part of the Vijay Hazare trophy. He performed exceptionally well as he smashed 132 runs while successfully hitting 12 fours and seven sixes.
His career changed for the better when he was selected by the IPL (Indian Premier League) franchise Chennai Super Kings for the 2019 edition of the prestigious league.
While before the 2020 edition of the league, he tested positive for the deadly coronavirus while in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
If we talk about some of his vital stats, he till now has played 21 first-class matches scoring 1349 runs with an average of 38.54. While as for List A format, he has played 54 matches scoring 3499 runs with an average of 49.00.
While talking about his T20 career, he has played 32 matches in total scoring 913 runs with an average of 32.60. If we look at his stats, then it is evident that he is a player with vast potential.
Ruturaj Gaikwad IPL Debut
Ruturaj Gaikwad made his IPL debut on 22nd September 2020 at Sharjah against the Rajasthan Royals team. He got out on duck on the very first ball that he faced by Rahul Tewatia. As for the match, the Chennai team won the toss, and they had decided to field first.
This turned out to be an excellent decision for Rajasthan Royals. Because they managed to put up a massive score of 216 notches. Their top scorers were captain Steven Smith (69 runs) and Sanju Samson (74 runs).
Samson played an extraordinary inning in just 32 balls while maintaining a strike rate of 231.25. Chennai while chasing this massive total also did a great job, but it fell short by 17 runs. Only Faf du Plessis managed to score a considerable total of 72 runs.
Gaikwad like a lot of other formats had a poor debut in IPL. However, this doesn’t mean that he isn’t a great player.
