MS Dhoni and Ab de Villiers became the first pair of wicketkeepers to bowl in the same match
It is quite a rare sight in cricket when a wicketkeeper bowls. But it is even rarer when wicketkeepers from both sides (MS Dhoni and Ab de Villiers) bowl in the same match. This unique feat was achieved in India’s tour of South Africa in the year 2013. The venue of the match was Johannesburg and the test started on 18th December 2013.
ABD bowled his only over in the second innings of the Indian cricket team and managed to give just 5 runs. While MS Dhoni bowled his 2 overs in the second innings of the South African cricket team. He was comparatively successful as compared to ABD and gave away just 4 runs in total.
This feat was unique because it was the first time that both the wicketkeepers of both sides in an international cricket match had bowled.
If we talk about the result of the match, then it was drawn. Virat Kohli was declared the man of the match.
Match Summary:
India had won the toss and had taken the decision to bat first. If we talk about their first innings then Virat Kohli was the most successful batsman who managed to score a century (119 runs). Another prominent scorer was Ajinkya Rahane who scored 47 runs in his innings.

India’s 2nd innings was also a blast and they managed to score 421 runs thanks to Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli. The South African henceforth were given a target of 458 runs. Which they failed to achieve and the match was drawn. The highlight of the 2nd innings of the South African was Faf du Plessis and Ab de Villiers. Because they both managed to score a century.
