Mohammed Siraj is in the news again as he has performed quite well in the second test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He managed to take 3 wickets in the second innings. He was instrumental in India winning the test by 8 wickets.
Mohammad Siraj was born on 13th March 1994 in Hyderabad, Telangana. His father used to drive an auto-rickshaw and his mother is currently a housewife. If we talk about his first-class debut then it happened against the Services team. While playing for Hyderabad in the 2015-2016 season of Ranji Trophy.
While he played his first-ever T20 match on January 2, 2016, against Bengal while representing Hyderabad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In his second season of the prestigious Ranji Trophy (2016-2017), he managed to become the highest ever wicket-taker for his team.
2017 became a turning point in his cricketing career when IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for 2.6 Crores. In a sudden change of events, he was bought by the RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore).
In the 2017-2018 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he managed to become the highest wicket-taker. During, 2020 edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League), he managed to make another record. By bowling 2 maiden overs in a single match.
If we talk about his international cricketing career then he made his T20 debut against New Zealand on 4th November 2017. He managed to take just 1 wicket in this match (He dismissed Kane Williamson).
If we talk about his ODI (One Day International) debut, then he made it on 15th January 2019. It was against the Australian Cricket Team in Adelaide Oval. As for his test cricket debut, he made it again against Australia in the second test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Hopefully, he will keep performing well in the upcoming matches as well.
Mohammed Siraj Test Debut
Mohammed Siraj played his first ever test match on 26th December 2020 against the Australian cricket team as a part of the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy. The match takes place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Australia had won the toss and decided to bat first.
If we talk about Siraj’s performance, then he took 2 wickets after bowling 15 overs in total in the first innings of the Australian cricket team. While batting, he stayed not out till the end of the Indian cricket team.
In the second innings of the Australians, Siraj performed even better and managed to take 3 wickets in total in the 21.3 overs that he bowled. In these innings, he also successfully bowled 4 maiden overs.
He did not get a chance to bat in the second innings. Overall, if we analyze his performance as a bowler, then his performance was quite decent. He managed to take 5 wickets in total and played an integral part India’s win by 8 wickets.
Mohammed Siraj IPL Debut
Mohammed Siraj made his IPL debut on 19th April 2017 against Delhi Capitals while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He managed to take 2 wickets in the 4 overs that he bowled. He did not get a chance to bat during the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting.
If we talk about the match itself, then it was being held in Hyderabad. The Sunrisers had won the toss and had decided to bat first. Their decision turned out to be great as they managed to score a decent target of 191 runs.
Shikhar Dhawan (70 runs) and Kane Williamson (89 runs) were the star batsmen who made sure that SRH could achieve a defendable total like this one in particular. Chris Morris of the Delhi Capitals was the only bowler who managed to take wickets (4 wickets).
In response to this, the Delhi Capitals managed to make just 176 runs in total and hence lost the match.
