ICC Cricket Awards of the Decade (2010-2020): Today, the ICC (International Cricket Council) announced the awards for the passing decade (2010-2020). It was a monumental day for the Indian cricket fans as well. You might ask how.
This was because the two fan favorites, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni managed to win the two major awards in the ICC Cricket Awards of the Decade (2010-2020). Which were as follows:
- MS Dhoni won the ICC (International Cricket Council) spirit of cricket award for the passing decade.
- Virat Kohli won the ICC (International Cricket Council) Sir Garfield Sobers Award for Male cricketer of the passing decade.
This made the Indian cricket fans really happy and congratulatory messages and tweets started to flood the social media platforms. In addition to the above-mentioned awards, Virat Kohli also managed to win the ICC (International Cricket Council) award for the ODI (One Day International) cricketer of the passing decade.
The current Australian skipper Steve Smith also shone by managing to win the ICC (International Cricket Council) test cricketer of the passing decade award. He won this award due to the fact that he plays quite a phenomenal level of cricket. As of now, he is busy with the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy test series.
Another cricketer who shone was Afghan spinner, Rashid Khan. He bagged the ICC (International Cricket Council) T20 cricketer of the passing decade award. These awards are a great initiative by the ICC and cricket fans from around the world are appreciating this great gesture.
The winners were not chosen by any committee formed by the ICC but rather by the fans themselves. A whopping million and a half fans from around the world voted. For their favorites and then the winners were announced.
If we talk about how the nomination for a given award was done then the Awards Nominations committee took this particular decision based on the performance of the cricket players on the field in the given decade.
