Lowest Score Ever in IPL
The lowest score in IPL cricket was observed on 23rd April 2017 in a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The score scored by the Royal Challengers Bangalore was just 49 runs!
Now let’s discuss this match in detail. Held in Kolkata, the RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) had won the toss and had decided to bowl first.
The KKR in their first innings scored a relatively small target of just 131 runs. Only opener Sunil Narine was able to score a decent total of 34 runs. He hit 6 fours and a six in his innings.
As for RCB’s bowling, Yuzvendra Chahal was able to take 3 wickets while also being the most economical bowler. His teammates, Tymal Mills and Pawan Negi also managed to take 2 wickets each.
None of the RCB bowlers were able to bowl even a single maiden over. After the RCB bowlers stopped KKR on 131 run mark, fans were almost sure that it was RCB who was going to win the match.
But they didn’t know what lay ahead of them. The entire team collapsed like a card house in face of the attack of the KKR bowlers. Not one (even Virat Kohli) managed to cross the double-digit mark in the team’s innings.
Virat in fact got dismissed on the very first bowl that he faced by Coulter-Nile. The top scorer of the team was Kedar Jadhav, who managed to score just 9 runs. Three batsmen in total of RCB could not even score a single run!
Their entire innings got over in just 9.4 overs. If we talk about the bowling of the KKR, then three bowlers, Colin de Grandhomme, Chris Woakes, and Nathan Coulter-Nile, managed to take 3 wickets each to their names. Umesh Yadav also took a wicket as well.
