About MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is one of the most respected cricketers in the entire world. His career has been really impressive and India has achieved some really great achievements while playing under him.
Some of the highlights of his career include winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, ICC cricket world cup 2011, 2016, and 2010 Asia Cups, and also the 2007 ICC cricket world cup. MS Dhoni took to fame by playing the role of an effective match finisher against multiple teams.
He began representing the Indian cricket team in the year 2004 when he represented India against neighboring Bangladesh in an ODI series. He went on to become one of the most successful Indian players, captain, and a wicketkeeper.
Last Match of MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni played his last ever international match on 9th July 2019 against the New Zealand cricket team. That was the Semi-final game of the 2019Â World Cup. MS Dhoni scored 50 runs in this match, but that did not result in India winning the crucial game.
If we talk about the match, then it was being held in Old Trafford. New Zealand had won the toss and had decided to bat first. They managed to put up a decent total of 239 runs. This was all thanks to the superb performance of Ross Taylor (74 runs) and skipper Kane Williamson (67 runs).
As for the Indian bowling attack, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three wickets while also bowling a maiden over. India put up a great fight while chasing and managed to score 221 runs. They had a poor start as they lost the first four wickets early, but then MS Dhoni (50 runs) and Ravindra Jadeja (77 runs) stabilized the innings. But, India lost that game as MS got run out which was the turning point of the match.
Dhoni Review System
You might have been surprised after reading the title but indeed this has been the case in Indian cricket since DRS (Decision Review System) was introduced.
While he struggled to call accurate reviews in the beginning, he improved his judgment tremendously in the later years of his cricketing career.
His retirement means that the Indian cricket team has to find a player who can take accurate reviews which Mahi was able to take.
The Indian cricket team has performed quite poorly after Dhoni left the team in terms of taking DRS reviews. This needs to be improved as taking successful DRS reviews is one of the ways in which a match can be tilted in our favor.
A most recent incident of team India failing to take a proper DRS was during the current Australia tour in which Virat took a DRS but it was too late.
Incidents like these make fans miss Dhoni…
Awards won by MS Dhoni
He has managed to win many prestigious awards including Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, and ICC ODI player of the year award. The Indian Army has also awarded him with an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the year 2011. He is so famous that even a movie was made about his life titled MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.
Dhoni belongs to quite a humble background. But through his sheer hard work and consistency has managed to become one of the top athletes in the world. He has also endorsed and made commercials for dozens of brands and companies. This has made him one of the richest cricketers in India.
Dhoni is now retired and now lives in his hometown Ranchi with his family. Dhoni also captains his IPL team Chennai Superkings in the IPL. He has led the team to the championship three times. This is quite a record in itself.
Although he has achieved quite a lot in his lifetime, he is quite humble by nature. Some of his nicknames include ‘Mahi’ and ‘MSD’. We wish him all the luck in his future ventures.

Why is MS Dhoni Known As ‘Captain Cool’?
- Never Scolds or Shouts at His Teammates
Yes, this is something that even he himself faced as a young player (Hint: Ashish Nehra) but he never did it himself.
Even though he is now retired from international cricket, he continues this in IPL as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings.
- His DRS Reviews Are Legendary
In fact, so much so that fans even call it the Dhoni Review System. He sometimes even jokingly taunts the bowlers when they aren’t sure about LBW appeals.
- His Behaviour Off the Cricket Ground is Also Great
While there are players and there have been players who although great ones, did crazy things off the ground. But Dhoni has never done so.
- Rarely Gets Angry at Something
Yes, while Virat Kohli is famous for the ‘things’ that he sometimes says. But, Dhoni always keeps his calm and doesn’t believe in reacting emotionally to every situation.
- Is Yet to Abuse Spectators
Well, unfortunately, there have been incidents where players (even Indian ones) have abused spectators. But Mahi holds a special place in cricket fans’ hearts.
- Rarely Uses Any Kind of Aggressive Behaviour
While celebrations too sometimes get aggressive, MSD ensures that his behavior stays in his control and not that of the prevailing circumstances. Being someone who keeps his calm in every situation is the reason why he is considered to be one of the best Indian captains of all time. While many others may be great at the sport, these added qualities are what make MSD different and popular. We hope that he continues to play for CSK in the IPL.
